ClaudeFind, score and pitch — you submit

Your co-pilot for
the Upwork job hunt.

Upwork Pilot pulls fresh jobs for the roles you target, scores every one against your profile with Claude, drafts a cover letter that proves you read the brief and gives you an AI assistant for each job. You review, you edit — and you press submit.

  • Every job scored 0–100
  • Letters you can edit
  • Never logs into your Upwork account
  • by barq.

Animation: a new Upwork job, “Terraform refactor for a multi-region AWS platform”, is found and scored 92 out of 100 for DevOps. A paper plane flies past “Scored” and “Cover letter drafted” and lands on a “Ready for you” card with the Claude-drafted cover letter, a Copy button and an Open on Upwork link. You submit on Upwork yourself. Sample data, fictional client.

How it works

Find. Score. Draft. You fly it.

Upwork Pilot does the scanning, the triage and the first draft. The decisions — which jobs, what to say, when to send — stay with you.

  1. 01

    Find

Hit Refresh jobs — or let a schedule do it — and Upwork Pilot pulls the newest postings for the roles you target, from payment-verified clients who have hired before. Duplicates and jobs you've already seen are dropped.

  2. 02

    Score

Claude reads every new posting against your profile, gives it a 0–100 fit score, picks the role it matches and says why in one sentence. Anything below your minimum never reaches your list.

  3. 03

    Draft

Open a job and Claude drafts a cover letter that proves you read it, ready to edit. Stuck on a screening question or a budget? Ask the job's AI assistant — it knows the posting and your profile.

  4. 04

    You submit

Copy the letter, click Open on Upwork and send the proposal yourself. Upwork Pilot never logs into your Upwork account and never presses submit for you.

Every scan is logged with what it found, what was new and what made the cut. Sample data.

Features

Less scrolling. Better proposals.

One private workspace for the whole hunt: the jobs worth your time, why they fit, a first draft for each and a feel for where the market is moving.

Your jobs, triaged

A shortlist, not a firehose.

Every job that passes your minimum lands in one searchable list with its score, role and budget — and a direct link to the posting. Sort by score and the best matches are always on top.

  • Filter the way you think

By role, by minimum score (50, 70, 80), by any word in the title or description — newest first or best first.

  • Only what's new

Each scan drops duplicates and anything already in your list, so you never triage the same job twice.

  • Archive and move on

Not for you? Archive it. It leaves your list but stays searchable in the archive.

Fit score

Know in a second if it's worth a proposal.

Claude scores each posting from 0 to 100 against your profile and the roles you target. Jobs outside your roles score low; 70+ means the required skills clearly overlap with yours and the budget looks viable.

  • A reason, not just a number

Every score comes with the role it matched and one sentence on why — so you can disagree in five seconds.

  • Your bar, your volume

Set the minimum score a job needs to be kept and how many new jobs each scan may evaluate. No redeploy needed.

Cover letters by Claude

Opens with their problem. Not with “I am writing to apply.”

Claude, Anthropic's AI model, writes each letter from the job description and your profile — and it's held to rules clients notice: the first sentence proves the job was read, the client's own stack is quoted back, and it ends with your availability and a concrete next step.

  • Short on purpose

Kept under 1,200 characters, no bullet lists, no headers, no “thrilled to apply” — with a live character counter while you edit.

  • One relevant portfolio link

Exactly one link, picked for the role the job matches, on its own line near the end.

  • No made-up experience

It's told to stick to your profile — no invented projects, dates or numbers. Edit, save, regenerate or copy in one click.

AI assistant per job

A second brain for every posting.

Each job has its own chat. The assistant already knows the posting, the budget, the matched role and your profile — so you can ask the question you'd otherwise agonise over and get a ready-to-paste answer in your voice.

  • Screening questions, follow-ups, budgets

Draft an answer to a client's question, a clarifying question to ask first, or a sanity check on the rate.

  • Straight answers

Terse and evidence-based — and when your profile can't honestly support something, it says so plainly.

  • Picks up where you left off

The conversation is saved with the job. Clear it whenever you want a fresh start.

Market intel

See where the work is before everyone else does.

The dashboard turns everything you've scanned into a read on your corner of the market: how many jobs land each day, which roles they're for and how well they fit you — and which skills are suddenly showing up more often.

  • Daily volume

Jobs per day over the last 30 days, plus 7- and 30-day totals.

  • Trending skills

Keyword mentions in the last 14 days vs. the 14 before — with NEW for fresh arrivals.

  • Fit by role

Job count and average score for each role you target.

  • Budget pulse

Median hourly and fixed budgets per role, from the postings you've scanned.

Portfolio posts

Turn a job you want into proof you can do it.

One click and Claude writes a 700–1,200-word technical article inspired by the problem in the posting — not a copy of it — in your voice, drawing on your real experience. It's committed straight to your GitHub-backed portfolio site, and you get the live link to drop into your proposal.

  • Committed for you

The Markdown post (with front-matter) is pushed to your site's repository; the commit link is saved with the job.

  • A link worth clicking

A fresh, relevant article beats “see my profile” — and it keeps working for you after this job.

You stay in control

A co-pilot. Not an autopilot.

Upwork Pilot is built to make you faster at the parts that are tedious, and to stay out of the parts that are yours: your account, your judgement, your send button.

  • You press submit

Upwork Pilot has no submit button for Upwork. It hands you a letter and a link; the proposal goes out from your own account, when you decide.

  • Hands off your account

It never asks for your Upwork password and never logs in as you. Jobs come from a separate job feed that uses nothing from your account.

  • Your thresholds

Minimum fit score, how many new jobs a scan may evaluate and how many postings it pulls — all adjustable while it runs.

  • Every word is yours to change

Letters are drafts. Edit, save, regenerate or throw them away — nothing is sent anywhere until you paste it.

  • Every scan on the record

Each run logs when it started and ended, how many postings it pulled, how many were new, scored and kept.

  • A private workspace

Your dashboard sits behind a password with an encrypted, HTTP-only session cookie. Your jobs and chats stay in your workspace.

Using Upwork Pilot doesn't change Upwork's rules for you — you're still responsible for your proposals and for following Upwork's Terms of Service. We don't promise interviews or hires; we help you spend your time on the jobs that fit.

Who it's for

Built for people who bid for a living.

Freelancers

Spend your evenings on proposals, not on scrolling.

You know your stack. Upwork Pilot is set up with your profile and the roles you go after, then does the daily sweep — so the hour you have goes into the three jobs worth winning.

  • A short, scored list instead of a feed
  • First drafts that already quote the client back
  • An assistant for the screening question you'd rather skip
  • Portfolio posts that show, not tell

Agencies

Give business development a cockpit.

For agencies that bid on Upwork, Upwork Pilot is set up around the profile and the service lines you sell — so whoever writes proposals starts from a ranked shortlist and a solid draft every morning.

  • Roles mapped to your service lines
  • Trending skills to steer what you offer
  • Median budgets per role to sanity-check quotes
  • Every scan logged for the team to review

What exactly is Upwork Pilot?

Upwork Pilot is a private web app by barq. for the Upwork job hunt. It pulls fresh job postings for the roles you target, has Claude score each one from 0 to 100 against your profile, keeps the ones that pass your minimum in a searchable list, drafts a tailored cover letter per job, gives every job its own AI assistant chat, can turn a job into a portfolio article on your GitHub-backed site, and shows a dashboard of daily volume, fit by role and trending skills.

Does it apply to jobs or submit proposals for me?

No. Upwork Pilot never submits anything. It gives you a draft and a direct link to the posting; you copy the letter, open the job on Upwork and send the proposal yourself, from your own account.

Do I have to give it my Upwork password?

No. It never logs into Upwork as you. New jobs come from a separate job feed (a hosted scraper service on Apify) that runs a search for your roles and uses nothing from your account.

Which jobs does it find?

Each scan searches for the newest postings matching your roles, limited to payment-verified clients who have hired before and to intermediate or expert-level work, both fixed-price and hourly. Duplicates and jobs already in your list are dropped, then Claude scores the rest; anything below your minimum score is left out.

How is the fit score worked out?

Claude reads the job title, description and budget alongside your profile and the roles you target. It returns a score from 0 to 100, the role the job matches and a one-sentence reason. Jobs outside your roles score below 40; 70 or more means the required skills clearly overlap with your profile and the budget looks viable.

Who writes the cover letters — and will they sound like a bot?

Claude, Anthropic's AI model, writes the first draft from the job description and your profile. It's instructed to open with a sentence that proves the job was read, quote the client's own stack back, stay under 1,200 characters with no bullet points, include exactly one relevant portfolio link and avoid filler like 'thrilled to apply'. It's also told not to invent projects, dates or numbers. You can edit, save, regenerate or copy every letter.

What can I ask the AI assistant?

Anything about the job in front of you: how to answer a screening question, a clarifying question to send before proposing, a follow-up if the client asks for past work, or whether the budget is reasonable for the scope. It knows the posting and your profile, answers tersely in your voice, and says plainly when your profile can't support something. Each job keeps its own conversation until you clear it.

What does the dashboard show?

Totals for all time, the last 7 and the last 30 days, open jobs scoring 75 or more, daily job volume for the last 30 days, job count and average score per role, the top-scored jobs of the week and trending skills — keyword mentions in the last 14 days compared with the 14 days before. The analytics also work out median hourly and fixed budgets per role.

Can it guarantee interviews or hires — or keep my account safe from Upwork?

No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Upwork Pilot helps you choose better jobs and write better first drafts faster; what clients decide is up to them. Because it never logs in or submits for you, everything that happens on Upwork is still your own action — so you remain responsible for following Upwork's Terms of Service.

Is Upwork Pilot made by Upwork?

Upwork is a trademark of Upwork Inc. Upwork Pilot is an independent tool by barq. and is not affiliated with Upwork.

How much does it cost?

It depends on whether it's for you or an agency, and how much we tailor it, so we quote after a short call. Send the form below or message us on WhatsApp and you'll get a clear number — no surprises.
